Question: Is it common for people to develop allergies following Cushing's?

Answer: Cortisol is a potent agent that can suppress the immune system and decrease inflammation. Therefore, it is to be expected that the development and manifestation of allergies would be less likely while someone has active Cushing's syndrome. When cortisol levels are lowered by treatment to normal, it is possible for allergies to become apparent. How commonly people develop allergies following treatment for Cushing's is not known.
